Any new tasks. . ;)

Hi all,

I am sri13 @ IRC. Last year, I completed GSOC under KDE and did some work in Krita. Now, I am not doing any thing in krita and I am feeling very bored as there are no challenging tasks. . 😦

Any new challegenes to do in KDE or Krita . . ?

Please tell me . . ,I wanna try different . . 😀

    how about speeding up the kde startup, nowadays the os boots 2-3x quicker than kde startup. It would be great and would affect everyone 🙂

    How about create a application like Publisher with a lot of images integrated and a lot of templates to make calendars, postcards, etc. It will be easy to make a design, just for “dummies”.

    Lots of fun stuff in Krita that’s way different from what you did last year! How about some heavy mathematics stuff that involves convolution?

    What about making life for users easier? We’re in 2012 and we still cannot copy firmware where they belong without opening a command line or kdesu -ing a whole GUI application:

    Find any bug that pisses you off, and fix it!

    You can only hack on KDE if you’re motivated by something, being annoyed is what pushes me 🙂

    Free canvas rotation? The non-rastering kind so you can turn the paper a bit when drawing with a tablet, and then turn it back without losing quality on the original image.

    Or does Krita already support this?

    * Bug 299953 – edit preset tags in brush settings popup
    * Bug 287743 – [wish] tag group management

    Hi Srikanth! You probably are getting more responses than you expected!

    If you would like to delve into Kmail then there are two pet bugs that are preventing me from moving to that wonderful application:

    Use receiving email address on reply (not identity-based)
    https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72926

    Store per-contact From address in addressbook and use it in composer
    https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=159251

    These two issues would help anyone with a catch-all email address.

    Hi, from Spain!

    I’m really impressed: almost anything can be done in Krita, from photo retouching to illustration. It’s very productive, creative, “straightforward”; it’s what I call efficient software so, congratulations to all developers!

    Here a you have a portrait I drew in krita (it was done in 5 hours cause I was new to Krita 🙂 http://3dsigner.deviantart.com/

    I have to say that there are some unsolved problems, which possibly affect Krita’s popularity:
    1. The [undo] and some other events aren’t responding correctly.
    2. Relative pen/tablet mode _the most useful_ is not working fine (pressure is not recognized)

    Regarding what could be very interesting features (I usually have to swap from krita to photoshop to use them):
    1. A “liquify” brush (losseless deform like photoshop – I own the source-code in flash and pascal if you need it, and it’s very useful to smoothly rescale some parts or to create caricatures)
    2. A time-line with onion-skin/light-box for traditional 2D animation would be a very strong extra (depending on animation style, 2D can be produced faster than 3D).

    By the way, I’m an experienced programmer though I never worked on opensource projects, but I’m really interested in developing source code for Krita, what would you recommend to me? Where can I download recommended IDEs and so on….
